We started the first session November 2015 doing 2 sessions a week.  Before the training, patients must receive a QEEG brain scan for a protocol to be used. The protocol determines where/how many  electrodes will be placed and the range to set the brain waves.  Depending on protocol, you may play a video game or watch a movie.  The sights and sounds on the screen will change according when the brainwaves are in range/out of range. Each session lasts 30 minutes.

In 2011, I would always see a mom and her non-verbal son who was diagnosed with Autism.  One day the little boy came up to Gianna and asked me why she was chewing her hands.  I was taken back because I had never heard him speak before.  (I think he could and did say a few words)  The mom was explaining this therapy Neurofeedback and how it helped her son's speech.  The fact that he was social and inquiring about Gianna was impressive.  I called the contact information the mom gave me,  and left several messages.  The company never answered or returned my voicemails.  I would mention this therapy to other parents to see if anyone tried and seen similar benefits.  I was told the child had to have some verbal response/cognition in order to answer questions for the feedback to work.

Gianna has had a 90% seizure decrease since adding Cannabis oils but when Gianna is sick (fighting any illness, her drop seizures are more frequent).  When we started Neurofeedback she had a sinus infection and was having more than usual.  Below is a video where you can see the screen go black when she has a seizure and then the spaceship reappears and starts flying again when she is out of her seizure.

Neurofeedback (NFB) also called Neurotherapy or Neurobiofeedback uses real time displays of brain activity to teach self-regulation of brain function.  Neurofeedback measures brain waves to produce a signal that can be used as feedback to teach self-regulation of brain function using video or sound.  There is growing evidence supporting the effectiveness of NFB with conditions such as seizure disorders, brain injury (TBI), Parkinson's, pain syndromes (migraine headaches) and many others.  NFB can improve and enhance memory, attention, focus,  and concentration.

In 2015, I heard that a Neurofeedback center was opening up next to Gianna's therapy Center.  I learned that Neurofeedback is an involuntary brain response and does not require the patient to participate in cognitive answers to questions.

We have noticed that when Gianna does the protocol of driving the spaceship she is very focused on what she is doing.  I was surprised, I thought she wouldn't be interested in watching the screen but I believe she knows she is making it drive.  We notice after she does this protocol treatment, she is very tired.  I explain it as when you are in a classroom focusing on the teachers discussion and retaining all that information. We've also done the protocol of her watching a movie and this doesn't seem to get her as tired the rest of the day.  With every session, Gianna has better sleep (more with the spaceship protocol).  On several occasions she has slept over 12 hours without even tossing and turning in the middle of the night.  Gianna also seems more focused and aware of her surroundings.
